Owh, i forgot to talk about cincin merisik. I bought my cincin merisik on March when the gold price drops from RM150+ to RM 117.
What is cincin merisik? For Malays, they normally have something like a pre-engagement event where the guy must give the girl a ring without any gems, unlike during engagement. This ring is called 'cincin belah rotan' in malay.
See, the thing is i never thought finding a merisik ring was so much harder than finding an engagement ring! Well, it's true. Why? Because for cincin belah rotan, u can't simply ask them to alter according to ur size. Most of them cannot be altered, and i am the size of 6, so u can imagine how hard it is.
For months we've been looking for the perfect ring. From KL, to Equinne to Seremban, then back again to KL. My favourite place for ring hunting is Sg Wang because they have so many kedai cincin there, except for Poh Kong and Habib. But, it's good enough for me.
Anyways, i have a problem at first to determine what is cincin belah rotan. Is it totally round like in the first picture or can it be something with design like the second picture?
Ring 2I've asked my aunts and other relatives, but we're not a family yang masih kuat dengan adat, so the answer i received was, "ntahla, aunty not so sure, ask mama long". then i called mama long she said, "mama tak tau, u call mak ngah" and it went on and on..
To be safe, i should just get Ring 1. But i hesitated because:
- I already have two boring round rings like that; one my mum bought me since i was 12. The other one; our family tradition ring
- It's hard to find my size nowadays. If ade pun, sangat la dull and boring and so no merisik-like.
- Ring 2 can be altered according to your size. But Ring 1 cannot
So i decided to just go for Ring 2. I fell in love with the one in Poh Kong Seremban, kids size but they said can make it bigger. ok, fine by me. :) Just about i got so excited with that ring, the gold master said, no it can only be altered 1 or 2 size bigger. but i'm about to alter for 3 size bigger. Stupid saleswoman really got on 'Love's' nerve and he decided not to buy anything there although Poh Kong Seremban has one of the most interesting collection of cincin belah rotan i've ever saw. You should give that place a visit.
.
Then i fell in love with the one in Tomei. Really really nice with flower-shaped in the middle. Sangatla murah, and of course it is sooo ringan, i feel like it can patah. Like a toy ring or something, so we went from one shop to another until i spoiled my own mood.
.
Then we discover a shop called Far East in Sg Wang. Ok, berat, the design is not the nicest I found nor the workmanship, but i cannot demand more due to my very limited size. They have my size there. So we bought it. :) Now, the best thing is that if we buy something from that shop, we can get RM10 vouchers for parking ticket. So, parking in Sg Wang is free on that day.
.
U want to see my merisik ring? Wait until 21st Nov ya because my merisik and engagement will be on the same day. Till next entry, see ya!!~
